The current series of sculptures (the arcs) that I am working on is new and still revealing itself to me. As my previous series represented passages or transitions through hardships and personal journeys, these new works conceptualize the reflections one has after coming through changes and the harmony and stillness that comes with achieving peace of mind. Inspired by my late father's old hunting bow, these arcs really began as "restrung bows." The arcs/bows and the strings coming together in different ways to tell or play different thoughts, states of being, or stories. And of course, like most conceptual art, whatever I had in mind while creating a work, the message may change considerably depending on the viewer, with its original "birthing" concept remaining a secret. | ![]() |

Brief Bio : I hold a BFA in sculpture from LSU/Baton Rouge, attended two semesters at Parson's New School/NYC, and one semester at NYU. I was one of the founders/directors of Matters of the Art Gallery/Baton Rouge upon graduation from LSU. I have also taught children's art on Long Island, hosting exhibitions of my students' work after every 10 week class session. I have been a professional artist all my adult life, but my "day" jobs have been various positions at national and regional publications including: production manager/art staff (Rolling Stone), computer systems operation manager/art staff (The Village Voice), assistant art director (Fortune Magazine) and associate art director (Popular Mechanics, where I won many national awards for my layout designs and photo shoots). Currently, in NM, I co-direct the Art Jemez artist cooperative, which I also co-founded. I lived and worked in the NYC area twice - for a total of 19 years. During my second residence in NY, my practice and study of the martial art Tai Chi Chuan, led me to the study of Taoism. These two disciplines changed my life dramatically. Thus began an intense spiritual journey which led me back to the mountains of New Mexico - and is a journey that continues today. |
